The Power of Prayer

Monday, April 22, 2019

Hello everyone!

This is a wonderful story about a family we met this last week.

We saw two men working on a car so we went over and introduced ourselves and talked with them about the eternal nature of families and marriage. One of them was really nice but not that interested and his friend stayed pretty quiet the whole time.

The family took off in their car, but the friend (Baudelio) stayed and after a few moments of awkward silence said "would you please come in and teach my family?" We said "of course!" What followed was one of the most sincere and sweet lessons about prayer I have seen. It was so simple as we discussed our relationship with Heavenly Father, the blessings of prayer, and how to say one. At the end, we invited the family to kneel with us and pray. We kneeled and the father explained he was nervous but he wanted to try later. The mom suggested that we say it. I said "of course we will, and then following our example, you can say it sister." She agreed and she then said one of the most sincere and simple prayers. The spirit was so present and that sweet family expressed how grateful they were for their knowledge of how to pray. We challenged them to pray every night as a family and that we will come back in one week.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is so simple and pure. I'm grateful for the profound impact it has had on my life, and on the lives of those I love and teach.

There are other pictures included of various people we teach and some additional pictures from last week's trip to the temple!

Love you all,

General Conference!

Monday, April 8, 2019

Hello!

What a wonderful weekend of revelation and spiritual nourishment. If you were not able to see general conference or don't know what it is, click on this link and go watch the talk that calls your attention!

I got to talk to my family today again and it's never a dull moment with these people! Even though we were all over the world, we were still able to enjoy one another's company and laugh with eachother. One of the topics that came up was simple ways that all of us as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints  and Christians can reach out to others to share the gospel with them. Let me offer 3 simple ways that have helped me, as a full time missionary. I believe that they are things that everyone can do, regardless of their situation.

1. Smile more. Be happy! There is so much to be happy about. We can rejoice every day, knowing that because of Jesus Christ we will be able to return to live with our Father in Heaven. As we live and love the gospel, others will want to know what brings such profound jog into our lives.

2. Be a friend. By doing so, we will open doors and start relationships that can result in the blessing of all of God's children. One of the best ways we can show our love for others is by offering service! Get out and help those in need in simple and sincere ways! "They won't care how much you know, untul they know how much you care."

3. Talk of Christ. As we fill our conversations with talk of Jesus Christ and his everlasting gospel, our ability to share truth will become second nature. Christ and his atonement deserve more of our time... and talk. As the Book of Mormon prophet, Nephi, said:

"And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our [children, friends, and family] may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." (2 Nephi 25:26, pg. 100)

I love you all and am so happy I can move forward with you in building the kingdom of God! I love you all

General Conference

Monday, April 1, 2019

Hello Everyone!

My time is limited today to talk. For the first time in a while I was able to talk to all of my family members over video or phone. What a blessing. All of you are such a strength to me and I love the spirit that each of you have.

This week is so exciting. I wanted to invite you each to be a part of the most important thing that will be happening this weekend. Semi-annualy our church holds a General Conference. The description offered by the church is this

All members of the Church are invited to participate in the 189th Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The First Presidency, members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and other General Authorities and General Officers of the Church will deliver messages of inspiration and guidance in five sessions:

The general priesthood session for all Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthood holders will be Saturday, April 6, at 6:00 p.m. mountain daylight time (MDT).

The general sessions for individuals and families will be Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Prepare for conference

Conference provides an opportunity to receive personal revelation as living prophets give counsel and direction. Asking questions can help you prepare for conference, increasing personal revelation while you watch.

Watching general conference with a question in mind has always opened the heavens and I have received personal revelation regarding personal matters in my life. I know that the same blessing is available to everyone who oreoarws themselves! I am so happy and healthy and excited for all that lays ahead, both in my life, and in the growth of Jesus Christs church, even the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints.

I love you all!

Hola! Hello! Howdy!

Monday, March 25, 2019

Hello Friends and Family,

My time is short today so I will focus on what matters most!

This week we had a lesson with a family of 9! It was a lot of fun to be with them and we focused on the truth that we are the sons and daughters of God. We taught that before we were born we lived with God and that he loves us more than we can imagine. We asked the people there what it means to be from all the different places they were born (Indiana, Missouri, Mexico, Colorado). They then explained that being from a place comes with different cultures, foods, and languages. We then asked them "how should we live, knowing that we children of God and came from His presence?" The answers they gave were inspiring and they truly taught us.

I am so thankful for those that humble themselves and allow the Holy Spirit to teach them. When they realize that the true teacher is the spirit and not the missionaries, they change in how they act, what questions they ask, and how they pray. I am thankful for learning that lesson in my life as well.

I love you all so much! Here are a few pictures, including a snapshot from talking with my family today.
