Hello Family!
This week has been so exciting and gone by so fast! All of this week has been in preparation for me leaving to my mission! I am SO excited to get to work and help people.
The rest of my district all got on different planes last week to amazing places (Kansas, Argentina, El Salvador, Arizona) and left me here all alone! I didn't know who I would be going to class with but I did get a new companionship. I am in a trio (3 elders) with Elder Durant and Elder Swain. Both of these Elders are so fun to work with. They have been here for 3 weeks and still have another 3 to go but they are doing very well. I feel like the wise old man of the zone, but then I realize none of us really know that much anyways.
While in the MTC I have worked really hard. In no way am I boasting, but I am very proud of the growth I have seen in myself while here. I have really given it all I can, and its been super hard. Some days the last thing I wanted to do was speak another word of Spanish, but as I worked hard and gave it my all I was blessed. I know that when I was working hard the Lord was blessing me and amplifying my efforts.
So now here I am, speaking some really broken Spanish and going to a place/people I've never seen. I thought I would be nervous, but instead I am so excited to go and get started. Sure I have no idea what Im doing but I still feel so blessed every day to go and serve.
This last week on Thursday we had the opportunity to help teach Sofia. Sofia is an Abuela (grandma) and is one of the most precious and kind people. She is so interested in the message we have and I have felt honored to help her walk this path of coming closer to her savior Jesus Christ. Anyways, on Thursday, we were going to teach her and a return missionary was going to tag along with us and help us teach. It turns out he was going to BYU, but was originally from Mexico City. We asked him where he served his mission and he told us LITTLE ROCK ARKANSAS. I was sooooo excited. He was the first person I have met that went to that same mission speaking Spanish. I had so many questions and in Spanish we had a really fun talk about all the amazing people and work that there was to be done there. It was a gift to me because it was just what I needed to raise my spirits and increase my excitement ever more!
So its soon! Tuesday at 3:30 am I will leave the MTC and start the plane rides to Arkansas. We are having a layover in Houston, which is now finctioning again, and then anopther flight to arkansas. There are 25 missionaries in my travel group! 23 of them are english speaking, 1 is American Sign Language, and one is Spanish! SOY EL MISIONERO QUE ESTA HABLANDO ESPANOL! And I am so so excited. I have been blessed in so many ways.
I have seen my testimony and belief in this work grow alot while I have been here. In every way I atrribute the success I have had to God. Without His help none of this would be possible. It is humbling to recognize how much I do and will need to rely on Him.
I invite you all to kneel in prayer and open up to God. Tell Him whats going on in your life. He will always hear, and will always answer. Love you all!
