Hello Everyone :)
This was a good week! Our mission President challenged us to accomplish 10 hours of service a week and it's going to be awesome. We have been doing it for a few weeks and it has been really good. When we are serving people they open up a lot to us.
The biggest thing though was that we helped a family we have been teaching set up for their daughters quinceañera! We helped them on Friday for 4 hours. It was so nice though, we were able to put all the tables together as well as put the curtains. We visited with all of them and their daughters the whole time and we lived being able to get to know all of them better.
Then on Saturday we were able to attend a baptism for the little rock ward. That was a super special experience. The couple was definitely prepared to be baptized and had a lot of faith. The couple wasn't married and so while preparing for their baptism, they committed to be married as well. And so they got married by the bishop at 3 in a small and beautiful service, and then baptized by the elders at 4. Woah! That's definitely a day that they will never forget. The part that made me smile the biggest though was that their wedding rings were really nice CTR (choose the right) rights. How cool!
Right after the baptism we hurried over to the quinceañera, because we had to put out some of the final touches. All the guests and family were in a church service they have before. We finished putting everything out but then it was just us two in this really nice room. So naturally we took some great pictures with our beautiful creation. We were laughing, hoping that no one came in while we took our silly pictures!
The quinceañera was actually really nice and centered around God. In the Hispanic culture, the quinceañera represents when a 15 year old girl turns from a girl into a woman. It was beautiful to see that the main message her parents wanted to share with her as she grew up is that she should always walk with God. We also were able to meet some awesome people and hopefully we will be meeting with them soon!
I know that when we are serving other people, it is one of the best ways to show them We love them. I hope that you apply this on your family, work, church, and school. The scripture rings in my ears from Mosiah 2:17
17 And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.
How true! May we all serve God a little bit more this week as we search opportunities to serve those around us.
Today we went to the little rock Arkansas state capitol! That was really cool. It's a super nice and old building. We went as a whole district too which was fun.
So that's how the weeks gone! Got some fun pictures though and I hope you enjoy them.
Sending my love,
Elder C.R. Anderson
